Discovering Parisian heritage

Discovering Parisian heritage

Having been around for some 40 years, the European Heritage Days have become a veritable institution, and are now perhaps more popular than ever. They allow everyone free admission to places that are usually off limits to the public. Monuments, landmarks, embassies, ateliers, the backstage areas of theatres and cinemas, industrial and cultural sites… The choice is vast and diverse. With its incredibly rich heritage, Paris offers hundreds of surprising, fascinating and exciting possibilities for visits. During your stay at the Hotel Auteuil Tour Eiffel on the occasion of Heritage Days, September 16th and 17th, our team will be happy to tell you all about the programme and the best ideas for visits.

Two institutions in the 16th arrondissement to visit

During Heritage Days, you can visit two flagship institutions in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, both of which are within easy reach. The first is the Maison de la Radio, located a five-minute walk from the Hôtel Auteuil Tour Eiffel. The famous ‘round house’ hosts the headquarters of Radio France as well as its musical institutions and large auditorium. Throughout the weekend, it will be open to the public from 10:00 to 18:00. On the programme are treasure hunts, concerts and guided tours, not to mention many surprises. Remember to book first! Not far away, the Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts invites you to visit the Heidelbach mansion, with its superb turn-of-the-century architecture. Take a tour with a passionate and knowledgeable guide and discover the peace and tranquillity of the Japanese garden and its traditional tea pavilion. This museum boasts the most important collection of Asian art in Europe.

A wealth of ideas for delightful visits

Sources of inspiration abound around the Hotel Auteuil Tour Eiffel. Why not visit the Rachmaninoff Conservatory? For Heritage Days, this prestigious music school offers a course of introductions to various musical instruments provided by the teachers and students. Learn about the balalaika, the gusli, the clarinet or even singing. In a completely different spirit, the Saint-Stéphane Greek Orthodox Cathedral invites you to enjoy guided tours in French and Greek throughout the weekend. Want a fun, educational and challenging experience? Try the Grand Palais escape game in the footsteps of Alfred Picard, engineer and administrator of the 1900 Paris Universal Exhibition. It will allow you to learn many details about Paris at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Finally, experience working with precious metals at the Institut de Joaillerie Cartier. You can learn the basics of the trade in the workshops of the great jewellery brand.

The Hotel Auteuil Tour Eiffel, situated in the very elegant 16th arrondissement of Paris, is the ideal starting point from which to discover the extraordinary heritage of the capital. Take advantage of Heritage Days on September 16th and 17thand go inside institutions and places normally inaccessible to the public. Our team will be delighted to bring you up to speed with the event programme.
