An exciting selection of Parisian exhibitions

With its festive illuminations, its animated shop window displays, its dream shopping opportunities and its Christmas markets, Paris is a magical destination during the end-of-year holidays. However, the capital’s famous cultural life is not at all impacted by the festivities and exciting things continue to happen in Parisian museums and institutions even during the Christmas period. During your stay at the Hôtel Auteuil Tour Eiffel, you can discover new and exciting exhibitions for all tastes in the same district…

Experience 19th century Paris at the Maison de Balzac

The writer Honoré de Balzac, in debt and trying to keep a low profile, found refuge in this house in the 16tharrondissement for a while. Today, the place preserves many moving testimonies of his time there and brings together documents and archives that shine a light on his life and work. Admission is free. The Maison de Balzac also hosts temporary exhibitions such as the current one examining the links between Balzac and Daumier. Entitled From the Human Comedy to the Urban Comedy, it evokes the Paris of the time but also reflects the sharp outlook of the writer and the designer regarding their times and human nature in general. This writer’s house museum is just a ten-minute walk from the Hôtel Auteuil Tour Eiffel.

A dip in Parisian swimming pools

Head to the Molitor swimming pool, which was converted several years ago into a hybrid place that is both a swimming pool and an exhibition space, a wellness area and accommodation. Scottish photographer Soo Burnell returns to display her collection dedicated to swimming pools with Into the Blue. The photos focus on the details of five Parisian swimming pools. The play of light on the water, architectural beauty, and the physical appearance of the swimmers are major elements of this remarkable visual feast. Into the Blue continues until January 7th.

The Fondation Louis Vuitton exhibition event

It’s been almost 25 years since any large-scale exhibition in France has been devoted to the American painter Mark Rothko. The Fondation Louis Vuitton redresses the balance with an exciting retrospective that covers a large part of the artist's creative journey in 115 works. Approached chronologically, the exhibition reveals the evolution of Rothko's themes and techniques, moving from the figurative New York landscapes of his beginnings to his large, abstract and colourful canvases. Nocturnal events and micro-visits guided by cultural mediators allow you to grasp the full essence of the artist’s œuvre. You can also download applications which, in educational or more playful form, allow you to enter the world of Mark Rothko.

Experience an entertaining and varied break during the end-of-year celebrations in Paris. Staying at the Hôtel Auteuil Tour Eiffel, it will be easy for you to admire the illuminations of the Champs-Elysées, do your Christmas shopping in the luxurious boutiques of the Golden Triangle, attend a play at the Théâtre du Rond -Point, a show at Lido 2 Paris, and visit one of the many current exhibitions…
